Add a Space Engineers admin

Space Engineers admin access is controlled by Steam64 IDs in the dedicated server config. VialStack support can make the change for you, or you can edit it yourself if you are comfortable with XML.

What VialStack needs

Send support the player's Steam64 ID and confirm when the server is clear for a restart. Admin changes usually need a restart before they take effect.

Find your Steam64 ID

  1. Open your Steam profile in a browser.
  2. Copy the profile URL.
  3. Use Steam's profile page or a trusted Steam ID lookup tool to get the 17-digit Steam64 ID.
  4. Send only the Steam64 ID to support, not your password or Steam login details.

How the admin change works

The admin list is stored in Instance/SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg under the administrators section. Add one Steam64 ID per admin entry, save the file, then restart the server when players are ready.

Restart timing

Because this touches the live server config, VialStack will wait for your confirmation before restarting a server that may have players online. If you want us to handle it, reply with your Steam64 ID and a clear restart window.

Quick checks
