Schedule restarts and player warnings

A daily restart can help keep a busy game server fresh. Use the Schedules tab to warn players first, save if your game supports it, and then restart at the planned time.

Open Schedules

Open your server in the VialStack game panel, then open the Schedules tab. Choose Create Schedule and give it a clear name, such as Daily Restart.

Choose the restart time

Pick the time you want the warning sequence to begin. If you want the server to restart at 6:00 AM and you plan to give a 15 minute warning, start the schedule at 5:45 AM. Time shown in the panel follows the panel timezone, so contact support if you want us to double-check the conversion.

Add warning messages

Add command tasks before the restart so players see in-game warnings. For Rust, common examples are say Daily server restart in 15 minutes., say Daily server restart in 5 minutes., and say Daily server restart in 1 minute.

Add the restart task

Add a final power task set to Restart the server. If your game supports a save command, add that shortly before the restart. For Rust, server.save can be scheduled right before the restart task.

Check it after the first run

After the first scheduled restart, check the console and logs to confirm the warnings, save command, and restart happened in the order you expected. If anything looks off, open a support ticket and include the schedule name and the time it ran.

Quick checks

  • Start the schedule before the actual restart time if you want advance warnings.
  • Use short, clear chat messages players will recognize.
  • A scheduled restart will briefly disconnect players, so choose a low-traffic time.
